“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth…” John 14: 16 - 17
“For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.” Romans 8: 16
We’ve grown in homes where there are God’s paintings on the wall; the savior with the lamb on His shoulder, the Virgin Mary, the crown of thorns on the Savior’s head, the cross and others. In our Christian societies, He exists everywhere. God became a part of us from childhood; He was preached at church and was used to bribe us at home to do right. He was sought before any activity took place. We prayed God at homes, schools and churches at all times; before meals, before going out or starting a day. His existence had become a part of our lives (Romans 6:5).
Our foundation in the faith is built from the salvation message (Romans 10: 17) preached to us and also the Lord’s images on the wall, etched in our hearts. So literally, God is God because we see Him every day and believe He exists. Suddenly, we grow far apart from this God in everything life and its okay with us. We go into life, rise and fall, succeed and fail and we come to the conclusion that life is how you make it. There is no one bribing us with God to live appropriately anymore, besides we expect Him to straighten our lives and not cause us some misery as we see some Christians go through. But…
There is that pain and failure that no one can heal and rectify except God. There’s this pit that we fall into that it will only take the mighty hand of the Lord God Almighty to rescue us( Psalm 68:20). It could be firm believers or lukewarm believers but God has always been right beside us. We have just failed to acknowledge His presence because we have not tried deepening the lines of the Lord etched in our hearts. And you know why He has tailed us all these years? The moment He was introduced to us, He managed to get a part of us even though it is only a little bit of us that we render unto Him. He is not after the part of Him (Holy Spirit), but to get the remaining parts of you. He yearns to make you whole in Him. He seeks to make you the new man in Him, which is why the Son was sent to us.
He needs you to consciously make Him an integral part of your life (Colossians 3:10) – to live that God over everything life. This time around, He needs you to deepen the lines of His image etched in your heart and gradually make a reality out of the drawing. He has been a lifetime companion who needs your lifetime devotion for a divine purpose.
Walk with God, commune with Him and get attached!
As always, Jesus loves you so much.
